16 months

With all of this winter weather in Eliana's 16th month, we had to get her some gumboots so that she can play in the rain and snow. You can see her modelling them below. They have been a very worthwhile purchase! I'm not sure how much Eliana enjoys the snow, but she LOVES rainy weather and splashing her boots in rain puddles. My favourite day out is by far the random sunny, almost pleasant days that Louisville has spoilt me with this winter.

Not much new has happened this month. Eliana seems to have slowed down on her growth spurt. We've seen a drastic drop in how much she eats and she is gradually transitioning out of those 2 beloved daytime naps. Her favourite activities these days are brushing her teeth, going outside in her boots and reading books. I think Eliana could sit on my lap and read books all day if I let her.

She has started climbing on some things, like the couch. She's still not saying too many words. Sometimes I worry about that, but then I read the Psalms and see that people who are facing death are praising and thanking God. I see examples of friends around me who are facing much hardship and turmoil, yet they trust and praise God. My eyes are then turned to things above. What really matters is that Eliana will grow to know and love the Lord Jesus. And I have so much to be thankful for. Look at that sweet, healthy, happy face! Nate also reminds me of Jesus' words in Matthew 6 - being anxious won't help a thing. Seek first the kingdom God :)

  1. eliana is beautiful! i love seeing her in lexi's tights - those were my favorite, especially with the little bear on the behind (: i totally understand where you are coming from both jack and lexi were actually "diagnosed" (though i hated this whole term) failure to thrive at 4 months because of my low milk supply at that time - at 16 months we were told jack was behind in speech and i ahared your exact same thoughts and concerns! within 6 months jack was talking just fine and now has a crazy vocabulary (sometimes i wish he would slow down!!!) - it was a great thing for me as a new mom to watch him go at his own pace! your post has really reminded me to trust in God - lexi doesn't know her colors well and all her other friends her age have known them for months! i worry is she colorblind? what is wrong with her? jack knew this at her age!!! but you have reminded me that each child is a precious blessing who moves at the pace God created for them! you are such a wonderful mom and it shows in each post you write about eliana!!!
