new milestone

I've really tried to speak in a 'normal voice' to Eliana. But I've failed. It seems I will do anything to get a laugh out of her. Here is video evidence that shows how my voice rises, I repeat myself and talk 'cutesy'. But who wouldn't? A baby's laugh makes the toughest heart melt. And I had extra reason to talk this way because I was very excited...

Not many people would think this very exciting but I was overjoyed with this new milestone. Eliana started rocking back and forth on her hands and knees! Next comes crawling.... Maybe I won't be so excited when I have to chase her around:)

Good news

Eliana is back to her normal self again, praise the Lord!

Her temperature reached 103F on Sat night and it was still 101.5F on Sunday morning. I stayed home with her while Nate went to church. He prayed that her temp would be back to normal when he got home and God was kind to do this! Thankfully, she had no other symptoms. On Friday (the day her temp started) I went to visit the day care centre that I use to work at to say g'day. The kids were all over her (they love babies) so I suspect that Eliana may have picked up something there. Oh well, hopefully this toughened her up a bit (although I think I'm the one that needs toughening up! :)

Teething Time

We've been feeling some sharp toothy pegs coming up from Eliana's bottom gum for a few weeks and we can finally see them popping up. They're not all the way up yet but they're getting there slowly. Maybe a little too slowly... yesterday and today she's been having temps ranging between 37.4 C/99.5 F and 38.8 C/102 F. Is that the teething that's causing that? I'm such a wreck when Eliana has a temperature!

Below are some photos of Eliana from last week. Enjoy the gummy smiles... they won't last much longer!:

6 months

Eliana had her 6 month check up last week.

Her 'data':
weight - 12lb 10 oz/6 kg = 0 percentile!
length - 26 inches/67.5 cm = 75th percentile
head circumference - 16.25 inches/41.5 cm = 10th - 25th percentile

hmmm... tall and skinny. Remind you of anybody?

The doctor wasn't concerned about her weight. She said Eliana is a 'normal baby' in every other respect and that she doesn't look malnourished. Well... that's good.... I guess:) I confess that I did cry quite a bit because of Eliana's low weight but I'm slowly coming to terms with the fact that Eliana is just a little baby.

She has started sitting up. She is still a bit wobbly but gets stronger and better at it each day. It must be that hard training her Daddy puts her through each morning. She'd probably be walking by now if Nate was the one home with her all day:)

She started solid food on her 6 month 'birthday'. She loves it! Her face was hilarious the first time she tasted it (butternut squash). A little uncertain but then a huge, delighted grin. I wish I had the video camera rolling. I had to take a photo of her face when she tried avocado and yogurt (above). She was not happy! We'll have to work on that:)

Where to start?

Family have been hinting strongly that they would like to see more of Eliana. Therefore, I have created a blog just about her so that I can indulge on updates about her for you to read/skim to your heart's content.

As she's already 6 months, where do I start? How about with photos of her from each month...
